Candy Bar Cake

- by The Health Nut

I had a special birthday to celebrate so I wanted to make a cake that would be delicious, yet be easy to make in a not-very-well-stocked kitchen. Therefore, I decided to make the candy bar cake that I had once found while FGing. The good thing about this cake is that you can be very creative with it- I didn't follow an exact recipe, I just did what I wanted to.

Step 1: Make the cake
I used a box cake mix to make life easier. Except I added dry pudding mix into the batter because I read that it makes the cake sturdier if you want to stack it. I also added in some coffee because I love how coffee enhances the flavor. I baked the cake in two round 9 inch pans.

Step 2: Make the icing
The easiest thing to do besides use prepackaged frosting was to make chocolate ganache so I did that. It was really simple- all you need is chocolate cut up into little pieces and heavy whipping cream. I used Hershey's milk chocolate and used about 9 oz of chocolate for 1 pint of whipping cream. Just heat the whipping cream on the stove on medium heat until it's almost boiling. Then remove from heat and stir in the chocolate until smooth. Look how glossy it is! Yum! I could eat this with a spoon- mmm chocolate soup. Also, look at the cute egg beater.

Step 3: Decorate!
This is the most fun part. Frost each layer, then put Kit-Kats all around the cake and finally top with M&Ms. Put a ribbon around the cake and you're done!

The birthday boy loved it and claimed that it looked like heaven- literally, because it will give you a heart attack & kill you. But at least it's delicious :)
